Ngee Ann Polytechnic - Diploma in Mechanical Engineering – AEM Gold Medal & Prize​

Zihao is the most outstanding ME graduate based on his exceptional academic performance and commendable CCA achievements.

Zihao was a student leader who helped at the NP Open House, SoE Graduation, and MOU events. He participated in Food Rescue 11.0 to collect and distribute food to low-income families and older people. He also volunteers at Project Rawr-tastic 2.0 with Riverlife Community Services to interact and educate young children on the knowledge of dinosaurs and the creation of salt dough projects.

Zihao attributes his success to his final-year project supervisor, Mr Wu Shucheng. He had a positive influence on him, as he was supportive and guided Zihao and his team throughout their Final-Year Project with warmth. Through his guidance, Zihao has learned to plan systematically and take accountability seriously.

Yian Hau has been deeply involved in competitive chess since the age of 9. This early immersion in the game’s complexities has profoundly shaped his character and approach to life. From resilience to humility, Yian Hau embodies the values instilled by chess, demonstrating an unwavering determination to overcome challenges and gracious humility in both victory and defeat.
 
Beyond the chessboard, Yian Hau has displayed remarkable creativity, innovation, and adaptability, traits that have undoubtedly enriched his academic journey. These qualities have enabled him to navigate through academic obstacles with ease, often finding unconventional yet effective solutions to complex problems. Moreover, Yian Hau has actively contributed to the community through his involvement in peer tutoring programs and leadership roles, such as serving as the chess captain and leader of a student mentor scheme. His dedication and mentoring have not only fostered success among his peers but also contributed to the
wider community through volunteering efforts at various chess events.
 
In addition to his outstanding academic performance and community contributions, Yian Hau has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, particularly in his role within the Institution of Engineers Singapore, Singapore Polytechnic (IES-SP). Through strategic thinking and proactive initiatives, Yian Hau has played a pivotal role in expanding the organisation’s reach and success, even amidst challenging circumstances such as the pandemic.

Spotlight on Yi Ting

Outstanding Graduate in Mechanical Design & Manufacturing Engineering

AEM is proud to highlight Yi Ting, an exceptional Mechanical Design & Manufacturing Engineering graduate from the Newcastle University and Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) joint program. Yi Ting is passionate about innovation, demonstrated through her hands-on projects, including designing an Operating Theatre Surgical Cap Dispenser for Sengkang General Hospital and pioneering safety improvements for hospital curtain rails using 3D printing.

Her internships at leading companies like Edwards Lifesciences and Liebherr Singapore sharpened her skills in Lean Sigma techniques, data analysis, and workflow optimization. Beyond her academic achievements, her leadership in the SP Taekwondo Club demonstrates her dedication to teamwork and excellence.

Yi Ting has joined AEM as a Process Engineer and works on an EDB IPP-sponsored MPhil project focused on the Integration of IoT and AI-driven analytics in High-Volume Manufacturing (HVM) for predictive maintenance and process optimization, helping to optimize production efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance resource utilization.

With a keen eye for design, problem-solving, and a drive to enhance efficiency, Yi Ting is equipped to make remarkable contributions to cutting-edge technology and innovation at AEM.

Spotlight on Muhammad Abdillah

Exceptional Graduate in Electrical Power Engineering

AEM is proud to spotlight Muhammad Abdillah, a distinguished graduate of the joint Electrical Power Engineering program at Newcastle University and the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). His passion for innovation shines through his impressive power electronics design and electrical stimulation work.

He developed an algorithm for detecting electricity theft within nano grids during his capstone project, earning an ‘A’ grade for his ingenuity. His professional experience as a Research Engineer at Dyson and R&D Electrical Engineer at Lite-On Singapore showcases his expertise in schematic design, thermal simulation, and power supply systems. Muhammad also excelled in developing solutions using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and JavaScript during his internship at GlobalFoundries.

Muhammad is now a Senior Electrical Engineer at AEM, pursuing an EDB IPP-sponsored MPhil project on “Development of real-time active thermal control algorithms for FPGA-based IC testing.” In this role, he designs, simulates, and tests advanced thermal management algorithms to ensure fast temperature response and precision control for high-power IC testing.

With a strong foundation in power engineering and a drive for excellence, Muhammad is positioned to contribute to technological innovation and sustainable solutions at AEM.

Spotlight on Lucas

Innovative Graduate in Mechanical Design & Manufacturing Engineering

AEM is excited to highlight Lucas, an exceptional Mechanical Design & Manufacturing Engineering graduate from the joint program between Newcastle University and the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). Lucas’s passion for innovation is evident through his remarkable projects and internships.

During his internship at A*STAR SIMTech, Lucas mastered metal 3D printing technologies and designed complex jigs and additive manufacturing showcases using SolidWorks and Fusion 360. His leadership in the SPICE Innovation Centre led to cutting-edge product designs for local SMEs, using rapid prototyping techniques to create high-precision components.

Lucas’s creativity and technical skills earned him recognition for his contributions to the Automated Noodle Machine Project, which won multiple awards.

Lucas is a Process Engineer at AEM and works on an EDB IPP-sponsored MPhil project focused on optimizing precision and consistency in manufacturing through advanced machining and additive techniques. With expertise in CAD, generative design, and additive manufacturing, Lucas is ready to drive technological innovation and efficiency at AEM.
